MTC gets Marshall Islands approval
Magsaysay Training Centre (MTC) has obtained its certificate of recognition for its training courses from the Republic of Marshall Islands.
The approval certificate, issued by the Marshall Islands Maritime Administration, stipulates that all training courses offered at MTC have met all the training requirements by the IMO’s Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping Convention, as amended.
The certification, issued last 11 April 2011, is for a period of five years, in which the administration has reserved the right to audit the facility to confirm compliance with the curriculum and STCW requirements.
In issuing the certification, John K. Hafner, the manager of Marshall Islands Maritime Administration’s seafarers’ manning and training division, lauded MTC’s efforts in the field of maritime training.
Likewise, MTC’s mother unit Magsaysay Maritime has also been crewing ships registered under Marshall Islands.
