This course provides training in the basic principles and shipboard applications, maintenance and repair of shipboard air conditioning and refrigeration plants. It also covers actual operation of electronic refrigeration as well as planning, design and installation of a complete shipboard refrigeration/air-conditioning plant using actual components and parts.
Those who will complete this course will be able to gain understanding of the basic refrigeration and air conditioning process and operation, its characteristics and function of main components, control mechanism, accessories and safety devices; demonstrate the multiple usage of the Mollier P-H diagram; assemble mini-air conditioning unit using actual parts; evaluate plant performance; and trouble shoot/repair the system.
