This course covers the concepts of quality assurance and the quality management systems in shipping as a short introduction before going on the features and requirements of IMO – International Safety Management System (ISM) Code and guidelines on how to implement an onboard Safety Management System (SMS).The course aims to provide intensive training for the officers and seniors rating on how to effectively implement the shipboard Safety Management Systems in compliance with the requirements of thee ISM code.

Successful completion of this course will enable the participants to explain the importance of having to work within the framework of International Safety Management Code and a Safety Management System. Describe the benefits to the company of establishing, implementing and operating the Safety Management System.
