This course covers the requirements issued by the Directorate for Seamen on February 1986 pursuant to the Seamen’s Act of 30 May 1975 (No. 18) Regulation 40 subsection 2 and 4, of Royal Decree of 31 January 1986.

As with ISO 9000 the Environmental Management Systems establishes procedures, work instructions and controls to ensure that implementation of the policy and achievement of the targets can become a reality. This would enable the people in the organization to be aware of their responsibilities, objectives of the scheme, and able to contribute to its success.
Those successfully completing this course will have acquired knowledge and understanding of the need to protect the environment as well as the responsibilities when undertaking protection and environmental work onboard ship. This would give supervisors and committee members knowledge of the applicable rules and regulations governing protection and environment onboard NIS vessels. This would aid them to recognize hazards and implement the resources available to achieve the overall objective.
