This training program is all about how shipping pollutes the atmosphere, and the significance of MARPOL 73/78 ANNEX VI regulations in the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships. It is intended for Masters, Deck Officers, Engineer Officers, Company Superintendents, Port State Control Inspectors and Flag State Administration.This course is in compliance with the provisions of Annex VI of the International Convention for then Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as modified by the Protocol of 1997 relating thereto.
By completing the course the trainee will be provided knowledge and awareness of:
  • effects of atmospheric pollution to the environment and human health
  • the types of noxious given off by ships
  • the purpose of MARPOL Annex VI
  • to which ships and engines it applies
  • the controls and limits on emission
  • how limits can be achieved
  • the requirements of Annex VI as to survey, inspection and certification
  • the consequence of not complying
