This course provides training for masters, deck officers and engineer officers to enable them to maintain and operate a ship in accordance with MARPOL 73/78.The course is presented in two parts. Part I explain the purpose and arrangement of the Convention and its six Annexes, and provide a detailed guidance on the Annex I requirements. Part 2 covers the Annex I requirements applicable to oil tankers such as tank washing, cargo and ballast operations.
Those successfully completing the course should be able to explain in detail the principles involved in the prevention of marine pollution by cargo oil through specific construction and equipment requirement for oil tankers, and explain its relevant operational requirements.
